Steve Kaufman, CEO
Steve Kaufman serves as Alteris’s CEO and also as an Operating Partner with Riverside Partners, a private equity firm. Earlier, Steve was President and CEO, and earlier COO, of Avici Systems Inc., a telecommunications equipment company. Prior to Avici, he worked at Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent), most recently serving as President of the Multiservice Core Networks division, a $2 billion business. He was also Vice President and General Manager of Lucent’s core switching business and General Manager in Lucent’s microelectronics group. Additionally, Steve worked for Intel Corporation in various marketing management roles on the Pentium processor product family. Steve currently serves on the boards of SIXNET, NDS Surgical Imaging, Maxvision, Vocollect , Quantum Medical, the Massachusetts High Technology Council, and One Laptop per Child. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Brown University, a Master of Business Administration degree, with distinction, from Harvard Business School, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Ron French, President, Solar Business
Ron has cultivated strategic alliances with premier solar manufacturers to assure a total quality management offering to all Alteris™ Renewables clients. Product excellence, sound management practice, delivering customer value and exceeding expectations are now the guiding principals of Alteris™ Renewables under Ron’s management.
Ron French has a BA in Economics from the University of Vermont and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School, along with 27 years of corporate management experience. Ron’s noteworthy strategic planning, business development and fiscal management skills won him senior executive positions at several Fortune 500 companies such as Apple Computer, MCI Tele-communications, Merck-Medco, Metromedia Fiber Network, and WebMD. Ron is now applying the best-in-class business practices he helped shape at those companies, to Alteris™ Renewables, as its President. He is following his passion to influence environmental change by developing the renewable energy marketplace.

Robert Chew, President, Wind Business
Bob Chew serves as President of the Wind Division. He is applying his former experience to expanding and growing the Wind Electric services of Alteris™ Renewables.
Bob Chew has a long history of professional excellence in the remodeling and renewable energy industries. He was recognized as the “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Providence Business News in the 2007 Business Excellence Contest for his work in solar energy. Bob Chew has been a renewable energy entrepreneur since 1977 when he incorporated his first solar energy company, R.W. Chew Co., Inc. He ran R.W. Chew, Co. for nineteen years prior to starting SolarWrights, Inc., which merged with Solar Works, Inc., to form Alteris™ Renewables in autumn of 2008. He is an NABCEP Certified Solar Thermal Installer and is a RI licensed Master Pipefitter and a CT Licensed Solar Technician. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from New England College and was among the first in the country to study this interdisciplinary subject.

Tim Seamans, COO
As Chief Operating Officer of Alteris™ Renewables, Tim is focused on the operational capabilities of the company including project management, project installation, product procurement, inventory management, logistics and the strategies for information technology.
Tim Seamans has a Business Administration degree and a history of over 25 years of executive management experience in finance, information technology and the business operations disciplines. As the Chief Financial Officer for Quelsys, he led the restructuring, recapitalization and merger of the company. As the CFO/CIO of Uniscribe, he managed all aspects of finance and product development for the $100 million dollar company. Tim was the VP and General Manager of Professional Services for Spyglass, an internet browser pioneer. As the CIO of Pitney Bowes Management Services, he managed two, $100 million dollar acquisitions and was key to the development and $500 million growth of the division.

Robert Chew, President, Wind Business
After receiving a degree in Environmental Science in 1973, Bob spent four years following his father’s career as a boat builder. In 1977, Bob started R.W. Chew Co., Inc, a solar design-build company that he ran for nineteen years. In 2000, Bob started SolarWrights and its wind division WindWrights and in 2008, this company merged with Solar Works, Inc. to become Alteris Renewables, Inc. Bob and his wife Beth live in a 100 year old home in Bristol, RI that gets 100% that provides 100% of the electricity and hot water needs of the house.
Over the years, Bob and the companies he has founded have received many awards and accolades:
- Inc 500 – In 2009, Alteris made the Inc 500 list as one of the “Fastest Growing Private Businesses” in the country.
- 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year – Providence Business News’ Business Excellence Contest.
- Audubon Society of Rhode Island’s 2008 Business of the Year.
- 2008 Innovation Economy Award – Providence Chamber of Commerce
- Big 50 – Remodeling Magazine 1987 – “Business Management”

Karen Clark, Interim CFO
Ms. Karen Clark is the Interim Chief Financial Officer of Alteris Renewables. Prior to Alteris, Ms. Clark held senior roles in a number of public companies, including serving as the Chief Financial Officer for PacifiCorp, one of the West’s leading utilities, and for Capstone Turbine Corporation, an alternative energy company. Earlier, Ms. Clark worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Management Accountant at Ernst & Young. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs with a degree in Business – Accounting from Montana State University.
