Alteris Renewables and SunPower, lead by Alteris’ Worcester-county solar energy specialist Greg Coppolino, have recently donated the installation of a 2.76kW Sunpower solar electricity system using 12 Sunpower 230-WHT modules and a SPR-3000 inverter.
“Habitat is looking forward to working with the residents of Millbury and surrounding towns on this project and we are grateful for everyone’s commitment and generosity,” said Harriett Lebow, HFH-MWGW executive director. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian-based organization that provides simple, decent, affordable home ownership opportunities for low-income families earning between 25-60% of the area’s median income.
By offering families in need “a hand up, not a handout,” Habitat sells the homes it builds or renovates to qualified and carefully selected low-income families on a no-profit basis with an interest-free mortgage. Those selected for the Habitat program work through a curriculum to prepare for successful home ownership and are mentored by volunteer family partners. Each Habitat family must contribute 400 to 500 sweat equity hours helping build their home. Habitat is committed to the letter and spirit of equal housing opportunity.
See our Facebook page photo gallery for a step-by-step of the entire installation! Thanks to everyone who helped make this opportunity possible for Habitat!
