Darrow School

“Environmental sustainability is important at Darrow, and the members of our community make conscious choices to be responsible to our environment. We were discussing alternative ways to generate power when this solar power project was announced (by NYSERDA). It seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to pursue a system that would provide a percentage of the power for a building already dedicated to environmental sustainability.”

Craig Westcott, Curriculum Coordinator & SEC Director

Darrow School was one of 50 schools in the state of New York to participate in the four-year educational program, “School Power…Naturally”. Alteris™ Renewables, the exclusive installer for all 50 schools in the program, mounted solar panels on the school’s Samson Environmental Center. The system generates almost 200 kW per month, and is grid-tied, meaning that Darrow can “net-meter” and put unused energy back into the power grid for a credit on their bill.
