Springside School

“Springside’s tradition of stewardship is deeply rooted. Over many years, across the grades and throughout the curriculum, we have worked to preserve and improve the natural world around us. Understanding problems, working for solutions, and accepting individual responsibility are the hallmarks of a Springside education.”

Dr. Priscilla Sands, Springside Head of School

The Springside School’s installation of a 92kW PV system on the roof of the Vare Field House is one of the largest projects in the Philadelphia region and serves as model and resource in the City of Philadelphia for alternative energy solutions and environmental education. Springside’s solar installation is dedicated with special thanks to the Class of 1966, the 2008 Parents’ Association fundraiser Enlighten Springside, anonymous donors, and a grant from the Pennsylvania Energy Harvest Program. For more than 130 years Springside School has taught girls and young women to examine problems thoughtfully, seek solutions, and take responsibility to work for a better world. Green footprints have deep roots at Springside and represent a long-standing determination to tread more gently on our planet.
