Wheeler School Field House

“Working with Alteris Renewables added an important element to our ongoing environmental commitment at The Wheeler School. Alteris understood that Wheeler wanted its solar panel installation to have a curricular dimension that teachers and students could use, as well as make a strong public statement about the importance and viability of environmental sensitivity.”

Dan Miller, Head of Wheeler School

The Wheeler School is a co-educational independent day school located in the heart of Providence’s historic College Hill neighborhood, adjacent to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. The school deepened its commitment to sustainability and environmental action by moving ahead with a 100kW solar electric installation on its field house in Seekonk, MA right over the state line in Massachusetts. A Power Purchase Agreement, or PPA, made possible by EOS Ventures of Massachusetts, helped the Wheeler School realize this solar installation through the third-party ownership model. PPAs allow non-profits like schools to enjoy the benefits of a solar energy system without the usual large initial capital investment.
